I love carbs; I love fatty comfort food in massive portions. And we all know North America does that better than anyone. But on a recent trip to Vancouver, the foodie capital of Canada, I was determined to lay off the burgers, fries and pizzas to embrace the city’s impressive culinary reputation.

The multiple award winning Tojos is widely regarded as the best sushi and Japanese restaurant in Canada. And acclaimed head chef Hidekazu Tojo is credited as the inventor of the California Roll.

S’Ametller restaurant | Ibiza | Balearic Cuisine

There is always a risk of sampling too much style over substance when you’re holidaying anywhere as fashionable as Ibiza. So S’Ametller near Ibiza port must be a breath of fresh Mediterranean ocean air to the Island’s foodie scene. This rather rustic looking restaurant isn’t glamorous but you won't care because the food and service is so damn fabulous.

S’Ametller (The Acorn Tree) is owned by head chef Marga Orell and her partner Joan Ferrer, the restaurant manager. There is quite a traditional vibe going on, with Spanish only menus.  On my visit Joan was on hand to translate everything and helpfully suggest combinations that would go well together.

Indi-Go at Rich Mix launch party, Shoreditch, London.

 This month I was invited to the launch party for Indi-Go at Rich Mix in Shoreditch. Rich Mix is an arts centre that houses live music, film, dance, theatre from from all cultures. It makes perfect sense that Rich Mix is now also home to Indi-Go – a café/ restaurant serving Indian street food.
